Humanizing AI

Every AI system is shaped by the information behind it. But who makes sure that information can be trusted?

Humyn Labs works at the intersection of human expertise and artificial intelligence, bringing specialists together to evaluate, verify and refine the information used to train AI systems. Their contribution is essential, yet often invisible. For Anushka Tendolkar, making that expertise visible became the starting point for the brand identity.

In exploring Humyn Labs' role, Anushka found a compelling parallel in an unlikely place: the work of the historical scribe. Long before information moved through algorithms, scribes were responsible for recording, preserving and interpreting knowledge. Their work demanded precision, judgement and an understanding of context. They did more than document information; they helped ensure that its meaning survived. The connection offered a way to think about Humyn Labs beyond the technology it worked with. At the heart of both practices was a responsibility towards information and the people who depend on it.

Rather than translating the reference into a literal illustration, Anushka used it to establish the thinking behind the identity: knowledge becomes valuable through the expertise used to interpret and refine it.

Within the Humyn Labs wordmark, Anushka identified the parenthesis as a small typographic detail with a larger conceptual role. A parenthesis provides context. It frames information, adds meaning and draws attention to what might otherwise be missed. That made it a natural expression of the company's work. Developed beyond its original function within the logo, the parenthesis became a recurring visual device. It frames content and creates points of focus across the identity, giving a simple typographic element a purpose that extends throughout the brand. It is a small gesture with a clear idea behind it: information is never just about what is presented, but also about how it is understood.

The visual identity needed to do more than establish recognition. It had to support a business whose communications range from contributor profiles and marketing materials to digital interfaces and website content. Anushka developed an approach built around structured typography, editorial layouts and a restrained palette. Reusable templates, interface components and image treatments brought consistency to the different applications without restricting how the brand could communicate.

The website became a particularly important expression of this thinking. Rather than allowing the technology to dominate the story, the experience brings the specialists, contributors and areas of expertise behind Humyn Labs into focus.

Humyn Labs presented an opportunity to make an often-overlooked contribution visible through design. The scribe provided the conceptual starting point; the parenthesis translated that thinking into a distinctive visual device; and the identity and website carried it into the experience of the brand. The result connects strategy, visual expression and digital design around a single idea: technology may process information, but human expertise remains central to understanding it.

In an industry focused on what artificial intelligence can do, Humyn Labs brings attention to the people who help make its output more reliable.
