Born Colourless

What makes us different is also what makes us human.
For Absolut’s Born Colourless initiative, illustrator Era Namjoshi created a 30-second animated film celebrating individuality without prejudice. Through a cast of human characters, Era explored the many ways people look, live and express themselves, bringing to life the idea that no one should be defined or limited by assumptions about who they are.

At the heart of Born Colourless is the belief that people should be free to be themselves, beyond the labels and stereotypes that often shape how we see one another. The brief called for a visual expression of this idea, celebrating the diversity of people without making their differences a reason to treat them differently.

Era approached the theme through a collection of illustrated human characters, each with their own identity and personality. Rather than focusing on what sets people apart, the work celebrates the idea that we all belong in the same world, regardless of how we look or who we are.

Illustration gave Era the freedom to interpret the campaign's message through her own visual style. The characters became the heart of the film, expressing the individuality and variety that make up everyday life. Through animation, these illustrations came together in a 30-second film that carried the message beyond a static image. The movement added energy to the storytelling, while keeping the focus on the people and the idea behind them: that individuality deserves to be celebrated, not judged.

Born Colourless is a reminder that our differences need not divide us. By challenging preconceived ideas about identity and belonging, Era's work brings Absolut's ethos to life through a simple, human perspective. The result is a visual celebration of a world where people can be themselves without prejudice, and where being different is never a reason to belong any less.
